Passing Through, 2024

Public art commission for Platfform 1 of University Train Station, commissioned by the University of Birmingham.

The watercolour paintings depicts a figure reading, inhabiting a domestic space with references to nature, travel, and other worldly symbolism. The paintings are situated on platform where invisible energies are always in motion. Running through the paintings is a line of poetry from Christina Rossetti’s poem Who Has Seen the Wind?

Who has seen the wind?

Neither I nor you:

But when the leaves hang trembling,

The wind is passing through.
